James Lee Humes, 76 of Burlington, died March 23, 2019 at his home. Born June 9, 1942 in Alexandria, MO, he was the son of Ernest and Rhea Stevenson Humes. He served in the US Army from October 1960 through September 1966.

He worked many years as a welder and retired from J.I.Case. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was of the Christian faith. Survivors include one son, Chad Conger (Sherry) of Sulphur Rock, AR; two grandsons, Aaron and Austin Conger of Sulphur Rock, AR; one brother, Ernest “Doc” Humes (Louise) of Wyaconda, MO; three sisters, Patty Varnold of Moberly, MO, Mary Fleer (Robert) of Quincy, IL and Dora Fogle (Donald) of Memphis, MO; two sisters-in-law, Joann Humes of Macon, MO and Lois Humes of Wyaconda, MO and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Laverne Humes, AJ Humes and Alfred (Darlene) Humes and one brother-in-law, Robert Varnold. The memorial service for Mr. Humes will be Friday, March 29 at 2:00 PM at the Wyaconda Christian Church in Wyaconda MO. Cremation has been entrusted to the Prugh~Thielen crematory.
