Frances L. Daily Bauman, 92, passed on November 9, 2018, in Sioux City, Iowa. Per her wishes, she was cremated. Born on September 3, 1926, in Darrington, Washington, she was the daughter of Archie and Sarah Bannister.

She met her husband-to-be, Jack Daily, in Washington state. They were married before he shipped out overseas, and upon his return from serving in the Navy in WWII, they soon moved to Burlington, Iowa. Frances was a homemaker and owned and operated a short-order cafe called the Tasty Grille.

After selling the cafe, she worked as the Managing Hostess in the restaurant at the Holiday Inn in Burlington. After her husband Jack’s death of a heart attack, Fran married Fred Bauman, a farmer from the Fairfield, Iowa area. Upon his retirement, they were co-managers of a Hud apartment complex in Fairfield, with Fran doing the secretarial and management work and Fred the maintenance work.

She organized potlucks and recreational activities for the residents, and she also helped with the weekly fish fry at the VFW. Upon further retirement, Fran and Fred moved to Burlington. After Fred’s death, Fran moved to Sioux City, Iowa.

Frances was a member of the Elks Club along with her husband Jack in Burlington. She enjoyed going to the floating casino on the Mississippi River and playing card games. Fran met Fred playing bingo at the Notre Dame Catholic School in Burlington.

Fishing on the Mississippi River and at Lake Geode was a favorite pastime, along with crafting. She also had a passion for reading, making many weekly trips to the library. Fran had a great sense of humor, always ready to tell a joke.

She loved being with her family at get-togethers, especially at Christmastime. She is survived by her daughter Jan (Gary) Fridley and son Kirk (Annmarie) Daily; one brother Sid Bannister; one daughter-in-law Cindy Thompson; seven grandchildren, Sara Fridley-Garner, John (Nicole) Fridley, Todd (Jacqueline) Daily, Lynn Daily, Lorraine Daily-Molzhon, Brendan (Emma) Daily, and Connor Daily; nine great-grandchildren, Breann Henry, Kiley Fridley, Hannah Fridley, Jacob Lehn, Connor Stone, Corrine Daily, Devin Daily, Brayden Molzohn, and Declan Daily. Frances was preceded in death by her son Michael Daily, her first husband Jack Daily, her second husband Fred Bauman, her sister Leine Moll, and her brothers Fred Reavis, Ray Bannister, and Hugh Bannister.

The Celebration of Life visitation for Mrs. Daily Bauman will be Saturday, March 23, from 10:00 AM till noon at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park following the visitation.
