Richard “Dick” Meth, 84, of West Burlington, died at 10:10 AM Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born December 9, 1934, in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth A. and Mildred Clara Anderson Meth. On October 10, 1997, he married Joanne Kathryn Kerr in Crapo Park.

Richard worked for the City of Burlington for 27 years; he drove a bus then dispatched buses. He ran/owned Kenny’s Market, delivered milk for Gustafson Dairy, Murray Iron Works, JI Case where he worked to earn money for a truck and as a teenager he worked at K & R Market in the meat department. Richard enjoyed listening to his 2 or 3 scanner, and looking up addresses in the City Directory.

He liked fishing with his boys and was a people person. Richard loved traveling to Arkansas with Joanne to go fishing and his RFD-TV. He was a comedian and could get around everything with a joke.

He was a prankster and made friends everywhere he went. Richard was loved by the whole staff at Bickford Assisted Living and where he had dialysis. Survivors include wife, Joanne Kathryn Meth of West Burlington, two sons, Dale (Amy) Meth and Harold Meth both of Burlington; one daughter, Carol (Dan) Stegall of Moline, IL; two step-daughters, Raylene K. (Mike Whitford) Garrison of Carthage, IL and Lorri L. (Harold) Johnson of Burlington; step-son, Dale (Paula) Hayden of Burlington; two brothers, Roger (Jackie) Meth of Cherokee, IA and David (Nancy) Meth of Burlington; one sister, Janet (Bob) Cumpton of Stockton, MO; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, one grandson, Dalton, and his first wife, Darlene. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends Monday, March 4, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Richard will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.

A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service. Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House and Southeastern Renal Dialysis.
