Sanchez, 71, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2019 at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born on July 3, 1947 in Alamogordo, NM to Godfrey V. Sanchez and Nicolasa Contreras Sanchez. Godfrey returned to Alamogordo after his retirement in 2014.

He was a Senior Engineer for Lockheed-Martin in Orlando, Florida for 35 years. He served in the US Army from 1967-1969. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico.

He also enjoyed hunting, shooting and fishing. He loved live Mariachi music and most importantly he loved his family immensely. Survivors include his wife, Margarita (Marge) Sanchez; a son, Adrian Sanchez of Alamogordo, NM; a daughter, Jacki Valenzuela and a grand-daughter, Adriana Debarbieri of Orlando, Florida.

He is also survived by two sisters and three brothers: Teresa Thompson of Alamogordo, NM; Martha Rose Torla of Wichita, KS; Michael Sanchez (Darlene) of Littleton, CO; Robert Sanchez of Roswell, NM; David Sanchez of Ruidoso, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Godfrey was preceded in death by his parents, Godfrey V. Sanchez and Nicolasa (Nickie) Sanchez-Holguin.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel located at 2301 E. First St., Alamogordo, NM. The Rosary service will commence at 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Friday, February 8, 2019. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 705 Delaware Ave.

, Alamogordo, NM with Father Theophine Okator, Celebrant. Burial will take place at a later date at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Adrian Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, David Sanchez, Rudy Contreras, and Ruben Contreras.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Rudy Cadena and Benny Granados. The Sanchez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
