Vernal (Dolly) Josephine Rudd June 29, 1920 – February 01, 2019 Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Vernal Josephine (Dolly) Rudd Vernal Josephine (Dolly) Rudd went to be with her Lord on February 1 at the age of 98. She was born in De Pere, Wisconsin in 1920. She joined the Women’s Air Corp (WAC) in 1955 to serve her country in its time of need, where, while stationed at Sea Girt, New Jersey, she met and married Donald Henry Rudd.

After they left the service, Dolly and Don spent a few years in Minnesota, New York and Wisconsin before moving to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1959 and then El Paso, Texas in 1975. Dolly was an avid gardener, a competitive card player, and an always active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and El Paso Woman’s Club. She was president of the Alamogordo Garden Club, during which time she and the group designed and implemented the landscaping of the public rose garden park across from the library.

Around her homes in both Alamogordo and El Paso she was always tending to her flower gardens, vegetable gardens and fruit and nut trees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Edward and Sarah LaFond; her brothers, Floriam Melvin (Buck) and Royal LaFond, and her sisters, Marie Joachim and Veledia (Babe) VandeWalle. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Lynn Fulmer, Nancy Lee Alejo (Tommy Alejo), Susan Dale Tucker (Billy Tucker) and Therese Michelle Agurrie; son, Timothy Joseph Rudd (Cynthia Rudd); grandchildren, Michael Parrish, Brian Parrish, Dayna Grammer, Geoff Grammer, Lynette Merrill, Vincent Alejo, Heather Blackmond, Jason Blackmond, Anthony Aguirre, Amanda Aguirre, Matthew Rudd and Jessica Rudd.

Dolly also leaves sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Her family and friends will be celebrating her life at 10:00 am Friday, February 8 at Alamogordo Funeral Home and laying her to rest at Ft Bliss National Cemetery with military honors at 1:00. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.

The Rudd family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc. to direct the funeral services.
