Obituary for Gordon “Lou” L. Collins Gordon L. “Lou” Collins, age 77, of Andover, OH, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, November 11, 2018. He was born August 5, 1941, in Vernon, OH, a son of Richard L. and Gladys (Beach) Collins. Lou was a 1959 graduate of Vernon High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Marines for 4 years.

He was honorably discharged in 1963. He then married Marlene (Sanitate), of Farrell, PA, on September 14, 1963. They lived in Brookfield and Kinsman, Ohio, before moving to Andover in 1975.

Lou completed his apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker and worked for 4 years for Stefanak’s Plumbing & Heating in Farrell, PA; and was then employed at AB Cole Company in Warren, Ohio, later known as Thompson Heating, where he retired in 2001. Lou attended the New Beginnings Church of God in Meadville, PA; belonged to the Local Sheet Metal Union #33; and formerly enjoyed snowmobiling and riding motorcycles. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and enjoyed getting together with his family.

He especially enjoyed the Friday night dinner club. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Collins, of Andover; his son, Scott (Mandy) Collins of Jefferson,OH; his daughter, Stacy (Greg) Houck of Titusville, PA; his 3 grandchildren, Zachary and Asa Collins, and McKenna Houck; his 2 sisters, Roberta (Richard) Steen of Modesto, CA, and Marlene (Tom) Horton of Billings, MT; his brother-in-law, Charles (Mary Jo) Sanitate Jr. of West Middle, PA; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, his father, and his step mother, Dorothy Collins; and his nephew, Daniel Horton.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St.,Andover, OH. A private burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 14th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
