Obituary for Grady Greer Grady Leroy Greer was born on December 1, 1946 and left this earth on October 15, 2018 There will be a memorial service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 6:00 PM. Honorary Pall Bearers are Steve Gray, Ray Pestridge, Keith Morris, Jeremy Morris, Fred Evans and Brian Timmons. A man once referenced the dates on a tombstone while speaking at his best friend’s funeral.

He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time they spent alive on earth and now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own, the cash, or the house. What matters is how we lived and loved and how we spend our dash. Grady was born in Yale Oklahoma.

He grew up in Pawnee Oklahoma where he graduated from Pawnee High in 1965. He then enlisted in the Armed Forces and became and Army Soldier shortly after. He had many roles in the military including Drill Sargent, Recruitment Officer, and Head Cook for those that were in battle and for those that were wounded in the infirmary during the Vietnam War.

The time he served in the military, 22 years, meant a great deal to him and he was very proud of the time that he was able to give back to his fellow man. Awards that he earned in the military include National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), and Non-Commissioned Officer. It was also during this time that he was also introduced to one of the things that was near and dear to his heart; his Mormon Faith.

Once returning from war he came back to the United States where he attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee where he obtained and Associates Degree in Shoe, Boot and Saddle Repair. It was in 1983 that he met his soul mate Patricia; and was blessed with a step- son Dennis who was 7 years old. They became married in 1984.

The family then relocated to Stillwater Oklahoma where he he worked several different places including Mercury Marine, National Standard, and Oklahoma State University Mail Services. Grady leaves behind his beloved wife Patricia Greer, Son Dennis Marshall and wife Susan, Grandson Jaxon, and Granddaughters Kali and Lainey. He is also survived by his father Curtis Greer, his brother Gary Greer (wife Mona), and sister Gloria McLemore (husband Scott), and his mother in law Mildred Smith.

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins that held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his mother Neva Greer, and father in law Don Smith of Wetumka. If he could leave behind any words of wisdom it would be to follow your faith and to love with all of your being.
