Gregory Michael Mogush, 61, of Erie, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born in Erie on May 29, 1957, the son of Michael and Barbara (Badger) Mogush. Greg was retired from Western Southern Life Insurance Group where worked in sales for 26 years.

After his retirement, he worked as a driver for the Legacy Truck Center for 6 years and was an evening manager of the Motel 6 in Erie. Greg graduated from General McLane High School in 1975 where he played football and basketball. He also played American Legion Baseball with his brother Tom for several years when they were both teenagers.

Greg and Tom had a brief venture together as entrepreneurs, owing and operating Mo’s Deli in Edinboro in the late 1970s. Greg then attended Salem College in Salem, West Virginia studying broadcast journalism and worked as a disc jockey at the NBC radio affiliate in Salem in the early 1980s. Remaining an avid sports fan throughout his life, Greg was devoted especially to his Pittsburgh teams, the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates.

He enjoyed golfing and loved fishing with his son Aaron. Greg had an infectious laugh and was extremely outgoing. He was also fond of his rescue cat Hummer, who found him when he lived in West Virginia and worked her way into his heart.

In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his son, Aaron Mogush of Arizona; a brother, Thomas Edward Mogush, Sr. of Edinboro and his wife, Cathleen; a sister, Peggy Ann Mogush of Meadville, a nephew, Thomas Edward Mogush, Jr. of Gloucester, Virginia, and his wife, Sarah, and several beloved cousins. Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, July 26th, from 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm. A brief memorial service will be held at 7:00pm with the Reverend Ray Hahn officiating.
