Obituary of Greta Ackerman Greta Ackerman, age 87, beloved wife of Richard Ackerman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 with her family by her side. Born on July 24, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Murray R. and Marcella Goldsmith Schwerens. She grew up in Cedarhurst, and Hewlett, LI, attending Woodmere High School where she was a varsity cheerleader.

After high school, she attended Albright College. Greta and Richard, formerly of Westport for over 40 years, enjoyed many years of music, theater, dance, exercising, and spending time on Compo Beach. She worked as a nursery school teacher in Norwalk and at the front desk of the Westport News for many years.

Above all, Greta cherished her time spent with her family and friends, and will be truly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband Richard of 64 years, Greta is survived by her two daughters, Alison Healy and her husband Tim of Shelton and Eve Healy and her husband Michael of Fairfield; her two grandsons, Michael and Robert Healy; and her special nephew and niece, Richard and Cathy Colman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Colman Hoytt.

All funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd. , Trumbull.

A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring, her favorite time of year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Greta’s honor to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
