Obituary for Hampton Schoch Hampton Schoch peacefully passed away on January 9, 2019 in Greenwood, SC where he had lived for the past 14 years with his wife, Elora who passed away in March 2018. They were married 77 years. Hampton is survived by three sons Barry and Sharon Schoch of Murrells Inlet, SC, Chris and Cheryl Schoch of Grand Junction, CO and Steve and Linda Schoch of Marshall, NC; two grandchildren Brian Schoch of Greenwood, SC and Dara Schoch of Rogersville, TN; five great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

He graduated from the Church Farm School in PA in 1938 and at the time of his death he was their oldest living alumnus. After graduation he started his career with Collins and Aikman textiles. World War II intervened and he joined the Army Air Corps where he served as a navigator in B-17’s, B-24’s and B-29’s during the war.

After the war Hampton returned to civilian life and Collins and Aikman where he enjoyed a 42 year career with Collins and Aikman eventually retiring as director of manufacturing development for the corporation. Throughout his career Hampton was active in his community; serving on various committees and boards including president of the Roxboro, NC Chamber of Commerce. He received a NC Governor’s award for developing a program for peer counseling for high school students.

He was a big supporter of Roxboro High School sports where all three sons played sports. He and Elora sung and performed in the local Roxboro, NC choral group for many years. Hampton’s loving and considerate nature earned him many friends and the love and respect of his family.

Hampton’s almost 98 years on the earth left it a better place. The family will gather privately to celebrate his life. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Hampton Schoch please visit our Sympathy Store.
