Harold’s Obituary Harold Alan Robertson, of Poplar Bluff, died February 8, 2019. He was 96. Mr. Robertson was born on June 13, 1922 in Butler County to James Henry Robertson and Eddie (Dixon) Robertson.

He attended Poplar Bluff Senior High, and was the first member of his family to graduate from high school. In 1942, Mr. Robertson was inducted into the U.S. Army, and in 1944, he was a part of the Allied invasion of Normandy. The following year, he was among the Allied troops who liberated the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar, Germany.

Mr. Robertson was discharged from the Army at the conclusion of World War II. He returned to Poplar Bluff and began work as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked until he retired in 1980. On September 21, 1951, he married Earline Smith in Poplar Bluff.

She preceded him in death on May 20, 2014. Also preceding him in death were brothers Eugene Robertson, of Muncie, Indiana; Harlan Robertson, of Birmingham, Alabama; Henry Robertson, of Poplar Bluff; and Hubert Robertson, of Mobile, Alabama; and sisters Avice Hutchings, of Pontiac, Michigan; Irene Davis, Nona Jett and Mildred Crunk, all of Poplar Bluff; and a great-granddaughter, Harper Blakey Allen. He is survived by two daughters, Alana Robertson, of Poplar Bluff, and Brenda Allen and husband, Tom Allen, of Fairdealing; three grandchildren, Joshua Allen and wife, Traci Allen, of Poplar Bluff; Silas Allen and wife, Kathryn Saunders-Allen, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Emily Padilla and husband, Beker Padilla, of Sanford, Florida; and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Padilla, of Sanford, Florida; and Jayvon Holloway, of Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Robertson was a beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather, a deacon at First Baptist Church and an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11:00 am. The Rev.

Charles Harper and The Rev. Kathryn Saunders-Allen will officiate. Interment with full military honors will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Memorial Donation may be made the The Bread Shed. Cotrell Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Harold A. Robertson.
