For 47 years he worked on the railroad for Great Western – Northwestern Rail and was a member of Knight Templar. After retirement he and Edna moved to Hawaii to enjoy sun and fun for 20 years. One of Harold’s greatest joys was giving his daughter rides on the engine of the Great Western & Northwestern Rail Roads.

On his last day he let her ride and switch box cars as long as she blew the whistle the correct way. They also enjoyed being backstage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. , where he had many conversations with the late Charlie Walker and the late Ernst Tubb.

He is survived by his daughter Sher Ree Engles Kenneally, of Dubuque. Those left before him now waiting at the rail station are his wife Edna; son-in-law Mike Keneally; brother-in-law Rodney Hill; sister-in-law Kay Hill; nephew Randy Hill and his very special companion “Butchie” his dog. “May Mr. Roy Acuff’s Great Speckled Bird be guiding you.

Keep your hand on the throttle and eyes on the rail”. One great Railroad man! !
