OBITUARY Harold Julian Rikard March 18, 1929 – December 22, 2018 Harold Julian Rikard WEST COLUMBIA – Harold Julian Rikard, 89, of West Columbia, SC went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was born on March 18, 1929 in Lexington County to Olin J. Rikard and Lilly Fallaw Rikard of Gaston, SC. Mr. Rikard was the youngest son of nine children.

He retired in 1991 from Southern Plastics in Cayce. He was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. His one remaining sister is Georgia R. Harmon of Columbia.

Surviving are his wife Myrtle Taylor Rikard of West Columbia; daughters, Joan R. Shumpert (Rev. B. Clayton Shumpert) of West Columbia and Sherry R. Phillips (Jeff) of Lexington; six grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Frazier of Canton, OH, Regena (Morgan) Lindsey of Lexington, SC, Stacy (Allen) Gleaton of West Columbia, John Mark (Christine) Shumpert of Chattanooga, TN, Dr. Taylor P. Johnson (Dr. Chris Johnson) of San Antonio TX. , Evan (Morgan) Phillips of Cayce, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Justin, and Conner Frazier, Lindsay and Clay Aschleman and Jackson, Grant, Addison and Ryan Gleaton.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Harmony Baptist Church in Gaston, officiated by the Rev. Gary Farmer and Rev. B. Clayton Shumpert.

A visitation will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family expresses their appreciation to the caregivers; Marilee Wingfield, Tye Stroman, Ruby Summers and Tracy Walton. Mr. Rikard made his transition from earth to Heaven after several years of declining health.

He and his wife resided in West Columbia and were blessed with 72 years of marriage. He thoroughly enjoyed rabbit hunting with his Beagles. He was a humble man who enjoyed a good laugh with his friends and family.

His faith in Christ was certain. Some of his last words were, “I’m ready to go Home”. His suffering is over and he’s spending Christmas with Jesus.
