Harold L. “Howdy” Lafreniere died Monday July 9, 2018 in Baystate Noble Hospital after short battle with cancer. He was born in Westfield on March 3, 1939 to the late Raymond and Beulah (Sanville) Lafreniere. He grew up in Granville, lived in Westfield for many years and has lived in Russell for the past 30 years.

Howdy worked for Forrish Construction, Stevens Paper Mill and Westfield River Paper Co. in Russell. He enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, game shows, Judge Judy and playing the lottery. Howdy leaves his wife of 30 years Debra A. (Bonor) Lafreniere, his mother-in-law, Joyce Bonor of Florida, his sister-in-law Gwen Tessier and her husband Donald of Tennessee, his children Tammy Jerry (Randy) of Springfield, Duke Dumaine of Westfield, Tina Miles (Paul) of Southwick, Eric Dumaine (Alicia) of Georgia, Nicole Couto (Keith) of R.I., Tony Lafreniere (Kristy) of Georgia, Jimmy and John Lafreniere of Westfield, Denise Sneade (Don) of Georgia and Deborah Lafreniere of Granville, he also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a brother Bill Lafreniere, his sisters Ester Benoit and Mary Mazaralle. The funeral service will be held Saturday, 10AM in Russell Community Church, 58 Main St. Russell, MA 01085, burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Rd. Westfield, MA 01085.
