Harold’s Obituary And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 Harold “Skip” Oss, Jr., age 79, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Shawano. Born on December 3, 1939 in Mandan, North Dakota, Skip is the son of the late Harold and Edith (Agre) Oss, Sr. After Skip graduated from high school he went on to earn Bachelor’s Degrees from North Dakota State University and North Central Bible College. On October 19, 1963 Skip was united in marriage to Iris Globstad in Cormorant, Minnesota, together the couple raised two children.
Skip proudly served in the United States National Guard from 1957 until 1961 and he worked as a salesman for most of his life. He also served as a missionary in Liberia, West Africa for three years from 1984 until 1987. Skip was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and man of God who will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
I have been blessed among men! I have lived a longer life than I, or anyone 🙂 , ever expected. I have had a wife who has loved me, cared for me, and always given me 200% and I have consistently been a beneficiary of God’s provision.
He has always met my needs and more. I loved to give people a hard time and I think they (usually) knew I was teasing. I often “got it back” especially if my daughter was my current target.
Some of my favorite times were spent teaching my children and grandchildren old card games that we played on breaks when I used to work on the railroad. I never, ever got tired of a good card game with friends and family. I’m pretty sure that my wife and kids know that I would have done anything for them, given them anything, and that I loved them more than anything.
My most cherished achievement, by the grace of God, are those who sat around my last Thanksgiving table: my children and grandchildren who know, love, and follow my Jesus. If for only this, my life was worth every heartache (literally and figuratively 🙂 ), pain, and moment of suffering. If I could say one last thing to family, friends, and strangers alike it would be, Jesus LOVES you and wants you as his own.
Skip is survived by: his loving wife of 55 years, Iris; his children, Randy (Michelle) Oss of Shawano and Kimberley (David) Erskine of Missouri; and seven grandchildren, Sam, Mikaela, Elise, Madeline, Liliana, Trinity, and Levi. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carolyn Daniels.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Hope Community Church in Shawano with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117.
Burial will be in Lake Drive Cemetery in the Town of Wescott. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the Oss family with the funeral arrangements.
Skip’s family would like to extend a special thank you to friends and community members who were there in a time of need.
