Obituary of Harry Scott Harry Lee Scott, age 74, of Brandywine, WV, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born on August 6, 1944, in Brandywine, the son of the late John and Charlena (Nelson) Scott. Harry was married to the love of his life, Juanita Pearl Burgess Scott of Broadway, VA.

Mr. Scott was 1962 graduate of Franklin High School and owned and operated H & J Superette from 1970-2016. He was a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren,VFW and a past member of the Franklin Moose Lodge #769. He was a Veteran of the US Army, where he received his National Defense Medal and his Marksman Ribbon.

Harry was passionate about NASCAR and following his favorite driver, #3, Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed watching WVU Mountaineers, and the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Mr. Scott is survived by: a daughter, Anita Jo Spake (Danny) of Liberty, NC; a son, Harry lee Scott II (Amy Michelle) of Harrisonburg, Va; a step son, Keith Helmick (Martha) of Brandywine; a brother, Benny Scott (Sharon) of Brandywine; 4 grandchildren, Madison Davis Scott, Tyler Warren Scott, Kendra Brooke Plowman-See, Travis Lee Taylor; and 2 great-grandchildren, Sara Louise See and Jameson Campbell See.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 half brothers, Richard Short and Jesse Short; and 3 half sisters, Mary Jane Snyder, Betty Reese, and Enid Hedrick. Mr. Scott’s family received friends on Friday, December 21, 2018, 5-7 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services followed at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Keith Spake officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by The Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard and Camp Dawson. Memorials may be made to Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren, POB 101, Brandywine, WV 26802. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.
