Obituary for Harvey A. Lantz Harvey A. Lantz, 78 of New Sewickley Township, PA died on December 24, 2018 in Cranberry Place. Harvey battled stage 4 cancer for five months. Born October 29, 1940 in Weston, WV, he was the oldest child of the late Arthur Lantz and Helen (Butcher) Lantz.

Last month Harvey celebrated his 53rd wedding anniversary with his wife, Carol (Smith) Lantz Whom he married in Weston, WV on November 6, 1965 Harvey is also survived by two daughters Shelli D. Lantz, Baden, PA and Stacey L. Lantz of Findlay Township, PA. Also surviving are one sister, Dianna M. Blythe and her husband John of Colleyville, TX, one brother Kenneth Lantz and wife Barbara of Daphne, AL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends. Harvey was preceded in death by a brother, Larry F. Lantz.

After graduating from Weston High School class of 1960, Harvey proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He was employed by Wycoff Steel, serving as president of Local 2501, United Steelworkers of America. After the mill closed eh worked and retired as a correctional officer at the Beaver County Prison.

For many years he coached girls basketball at Freedom Area High School in Freedom, PA. He also worked as a hall monitor at Freedom Area High School and attended Grace Community Church in Cranberry. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan, supporting the team attending games at their spring training facility in Bradenton, FL, Forbes Field, Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park with family and friends.

He also loved his WV Mountaineers, especially the basketball team. Harvey enjoyed vacationing with his family, gardening, golf and Sunday dinners with the “lights of his life” Stacey and Shelli, family members and friends. After his retirement, during the winter months, Harvey could be found ocean side in Carolina Beach with his wife, friends and his buddy Maxx.

There will be no public visitation. Per Harvey’s request cremation is being handled by Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 724-375-0496. A Celebration of Life will take place later in 2019.
