Mrs. Bessie Hazel Vinson Ballard, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, November 18, 2018, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the Chapel of Hamilton and Hackleburg Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama. Interment will follow in Fairview Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark will be handling local arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Hamilton, Alabama Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Mrs. Ballard was born December 4, 1923 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late John Preston Vinson and Jessie Maude Mahone Vinson. She moved to Orlando, Florida where she worked with Orange Memorial Hospital for over thirty years until her retirement.

Following her retirement, Mrs. Ballard lived in Ray City, Georgia for twenty years and moved to Ozark in 2016. She loved to cook, garden, and was an avid fisherwoman. She was family oriented and loved her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jacob Ballard; two sons, Bennie Dale Ballard and Ronald Gene Ballard. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Eddy Odom of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Duel and Kathy Ballard of Hahira, Georgia and Donald Ralph and Cynthia Ballard of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Katheryne Simons of Leesburg, Florida. Twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
