Helen M. (Boyer) Himes, 98, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Helen born on Wednesday, September 10, 1919 in New Kensington to the late Lawrence and L. Marilla (Schrecengost) Boyer and lived her whole life in the area. Helen was a graduate of Ken High School class of 1937.

She worked as a clerk in New Kensington her entire career, first at Robson Bakery, then Keystone Dairy, and finally Silverman’s Drug Store, retiring in 1982. Helen was a past member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of New Kensington. She enjoyed camping, knitting, and crafts, and loved spending time with her family.

Helen is survived by her 2 sons, C. Ray Himes of Johnstown and Glenn (Aleta) Himes of South Buffalo Township; 3 grandchildren, Christy (Pete) Gregori, Faith (Vic) Colen and Steven (Cindy) Himes; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Boyer of Murrysville and a sister-in-law, Helen Boyer of Natrona Heights. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Himes on March 2, 2012; 3 brothers; and a daughter in law, Ruth Faulds Himes. Family and friends will be received from 2–6 PM on Monday, May 21, at CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951), where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 22.

Private burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be offered in Helen’s name to the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068.
