Helen Louise Devilbiss, age 95, of New Windsor, died Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Oakland Manor Assisted Living, Sykesville. Born August 20, 1923 in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Nellie Clay Hough. She was the wife of William A. Devilbiss who died in 1998.

Helen was a lifelong member of the Linwood Brethren Church and formerly served as secretary of the Women’s Missionary Society. She previously worked at Kessler Shoe Co. in Westminster for 12 years, retiring… Read More » in 1989 and also helped her husband with the Devilbiss Orchard until it was sold in 1994. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Windsor Fire Co. Surviving are daughter, Barbara Devilbiss of Jessup; several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Miriam Devilbiss, New Windsor.

She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret White and brothers, William Clay Hough and Edgar C. Hough Jr. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12 at Linwood Brethren Church, 575 McKinstry Mill Rd. , Union Bridge, MD 21791, with Rev. Dan Ceary, her pastor, officiating.

Private interment will be in Linganore Cemetery, Unionville. Memorial contributions may be made to Linwood Brethren Church at the above address or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
