Obituary for Helen S. Zygo New Hartford – Helen S. Zygo, 94, passed away in the loving arms of her daughter, Carol Ann, on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Helen was born on May 2, 1924 in the town of Trenton, the 11th of twelve children of Frank and Sadie (Kakowski) Zacek. She was a graduate of Holland Patent High School.

On November 28, 1946, Helen married Stanley J. Zygo in St. Ann’s Church, Hinckley, a fun and happy union of nearly 50 years until his death on April 3, 1996. Helen worked at Remington Arms during WWII. She attended Utica School of Beauty Culture and was a beautician in West Utica.

Later, Helen was employed with GE as an inspector on French Road, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the New York Mills Senior Center, enjoying her friendships, trips and events over many years. Helen wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

She and her “winter” friends shared time playing cards, doing water aerobics, and having dinner parties under the stars. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church for over 50 years and a member of the Altar Rosary Society for many years. Surviving are her daughter, Carol Ann Zygo, Whitesboro and her companion, Earle Reed; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marilyn Zygo, Lake Placid; grandchildren, Laura and Nathan Fuller and their son, Noah, Jeffrey Zygo and his fiancée, Shihomi Kuriyagawa, Colorado; nephew, Bernie Zygo, who was like Helen’s third child, and his wife Terri, Williamson, NY.

Helen was blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews, along with their children and grandchildren, who enriched her life with their many kindnesses. Helen had a framed card in her home which said, “Let us live together and love one another”. Her life was a reflection of that saying.

Her memory will live through many family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd. , Utica.
