Helen Salter Nelson Wade, 90, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, November 16th, 2018, at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Atlantic United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Terry McInnis.

Interment will follow at Atlantic Community Cemetery. Helen retired from Sea Level Hospital after many years of service in the business office. She later returned to work in the kitchen when the hospital became Taylor Extended Care Facility.

One of her greatest pleasures was being a “Reading Grandmother” at Atlantic Elementary School. Helen was a life-long member of the Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir each Sunday and was an active member of the Baptist Women. Helen was one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet and was beloved by so many!

She was always ready with a hug, a kind word, or just “ being there” for her family. Her Sunday dinners would rival those of the world’s best cooks and would bring family members out of the wood-work to enjoy her delightful dishes! She is survived by her sons, Adron Keith Nelson and wife, Yvonne, of Kinston, Paul Nelson and wife, Fran, of Williston and Mark Nelson of Beaufort; grandchildren, Adron Paul Nelson and wife, Sharon, of Williston, Courtney Braswell and husband, Scott, of Garner, Polly Nelson and partner, Susie Hicks, of Wake Forest, Michael Nelson of Williston, Amanda Nelson of Kinston; and great-grandchildren, David Cahoon and wife Lauren, Samantha Nelson, Garrett Braswell, Spencer Nelson, Griffin and Grady Braswell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Polly Salter; first husband, Adron Nelson; second husband, William Wade; sister, Flaurendia “Flossie” Lewis; and brother, Calvin Rogers Salter. The family would like to thank everyone at Snug Harbor for the wonderful care they gave her for almost 3 years. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Atlantic United Methodist Church.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations can be sent to Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church at P.O. Box 147, Atlantic, NC 28511. Online condolences may be made at www. mundenfuneralhome.net Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home and Crematory in Morehead City, NC.
