Henry L. Baker, 94, of Sandusky, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Ohio Veterans Home. He was born on June 2, 1924 in Sandusky to the late Henry J. and Marie (McFarland) Baker. A graduate of Sandusky High School, Henry worked construction, was a machinist, and finally retired as a crane operator for the Ford Motor Company, Sandusky pant.

He was a Corporal in the Marine Corps. A WWII veteran, he served in the pacific theater, including Okinawa and Guadalcanal. Henry loved to fish and was a go-kart fanatic.

He loved cards, watching boxing and football, and spending time with his loving family. Henry is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rosemarie “Rose” (Johnson) Baker; daughter, Sharon (Richard Sr.) Wieber, of Connecticut; grandchildren, Richard Wieber Jr., Sean (Annette) Wieber, Christopher Wieber, Michelle Baker, David Baker, Nicole Baker, and Christine Baker; 14 great-grandchildren; and niece, Mary Ann Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Baker; and sister, Juanita Gresh.

Friends may call on Monday, September 10 from 4-7 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. , Sandusky. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Memorial contributions may be made in Henry’s name to the Ohio Veterans Home Resident Benefit Fund, 3416 Columbus Ave. , Sandusky, OH 44870.
