Obituary for Hilda Mangano Hilda E. Mangano, 100, of 129 Plunkett Street, Pittsfield, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at her home. Born in Pittsfield on April 11, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Alexina Larche Palardy, she was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Mangano was employed by General Electric for 21 years.

During the 1950s, she taught typewriting classes at the Boys Club. She had also worked as a waitress. A talented piano player, Mrs. Mangano shared her talents giving piano lessons, as an accompanist for Ceil Conuel’s dance recitals, and gave of her time playing for the Pittsfield Rotary Club luncheon meetings, and the Pittsfield Senior Center luncheons.

Mrs. Mangano was a communicant of St. Charles Church and had been a communicant of the former Notre Dane Church. She and her husband worked the RSVP Information Booth. She enjoyed bowling and did so into her 80s, as a member of three leagues including the Italian Women’s League.

Her family was her greatest pride and joy. Her husband, Dominic J. Mangano, died in 2005. Mrs. Mangano is survived by three daughters, Rosalie Polcaro (and husband David) of Pittsfield, Valerie Ebling (and husband Dale) of Lakewood, Calif.

, Carole Anderson (and husband George “Pete”) of Pittsfield; two sons, John J. Mangano (and wife Dolores) of Dalton, and Paul Mangano (and wife, Olimpia) of Houston, TX; a sister, Therese Goodine of Newington, Conn; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Hilda also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a son, Michael P. Mangano and daughter, Lorraine Anderson; a grandson Eugene Borden, and three brothers, Ovie Palardy, Francis Norman Palardy, and Paul Palardy.

A Special Thank You to her caregivers, her daughter-in-law, Dolores, her granddaughters Darlene and Terry; as well as Kim, Estervina, Colleen, Melissa, Lisa, and Pam. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Hilda E. Mangano will be held FRIDAY, June 8, 2018 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor Emeritus.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be THURSDAY, June 7, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in PITTSFIELD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
