Pelkie/Arnheim Hilja T. Kokko, 96, a resident of DesRochers Rd. , Pelkie/Arnheim, passed away Saturday morning February 23, 2019, at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse following a short illness. She was born on October 8, 1922, in Kivijarvella, Finland, a daughter of the late Emil and Hilma (Klein) Tutipaa.

Hilja moved to the United States in 1953, residing in New York, NY, Detroit, MI, and then Waukegan, IL where she worked cleaning homes. On June 15, 1963, she was united in marriage to Matt A. Kokko. On August 12, 2008, Matt preceded Hilja in death.

Mrs. Kokko was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and caring for all. Preceding Hilja in death were her husband, her parents, and her sisters Taimi, Tyyani and Toini and her brother Toivo.

Surviving are: Her brothers-in-law: Tom Olson of Hancock Donald Lilquist of Ishpeming Several nieces, nephews and cousins in Finalnd and the United States. A private graveside service for Hilja will be held at the Mt. View Cemetery in South Range at a later time.
