Holley “Hoop”‘s Obituary Holley “Hoop” Houston Hammer, 38, of Haileyville, Oklahoma died Monday, May 6, 2019 at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, May 10 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bache-Red Oak Cemetery in Bache, Oklahoma with Reanna Brown officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his grandparents Pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Donnie Sutton, Matt Champion, Timothy Noriega, Clifton Boggs and Gary Vermillion.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Bell, Joe Hammer, Keegan Barnhill, Gary Martin and Victor Hammer. Hoop was born January 5, 1981 to Jeannette Brochu Hammer in Lafayette, Indiana. Hoop proudly shared his birthdate with his great grandmother Ellen Johnson.

He was quickly given the name “Hoop” by two of his aunts, a name that accompanied him through his life. Hoop attended Haileyville Schools followed by Thunderbird Youth Academy. He worked as a laborer for several local companies.

He lived in Pittsburg County his entire life. His son Victor Hammer was the joy of his life. He was very proud the day he was born.

Hoop loved to camp and fish. If you knew him or met him, he brought a smile to your face in some way or he made you spitting mad. There wasn’t a rose bush or pretty flower safe from being plucked when he walked by.

Hoop met the love and angel of his life, Jaylena Barnhill Hammer. She completed him making him a better man. He was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis Cancer in August 2018.

With his amazing wife, they battled hard on a daily basis against this cruel disease. On May 6th 2019, Hoop went to sleep and entered the gates of heaven with his wife at his side holding his hand. He is survived by his wife, Jaylena Barnhill-Hammer of the home; son, Victor Hammer of the home; mother, Jeannette Hammer and Dave Santiago of the home; brother, Joseph Hammer of the home; step children, Madigan Griffith of McAlester, Addie Griffith of McAlester, Jayden Barnhill and Keegan Barnhill both of the home; niece, Katie Jo Hammer of Alderson; nephew, Timothy Noriega of Hartshorne; aunts and uncles, Pat Brochu and wife, Debbie of McAlester, Norman Brochu of Bache, Vera Roberts of McAlester and Lori Jernigen and husband, Greg of McAlester; special cousins, Ashley Metcalf, Hillary Jernigen, Kylie Jernigen and Megan Jernigen; and numerous other cousins, family and friends.

Hoop is preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Ella Brochu; Granny Johnson and Uncle Jimmy Roberts.
