Barrios, affectionately known as CJ or Cheeky, was one of the two children born to the late Victor and Iris Barrios on February 11, 1960. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and raised in Bronx, New York from the age of two. He attended Roosevelt High School and immediately began his career as an assembly worker for General Motors where he retired from after 25 years of service.

Humberto departed this life peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2018. Humberto was very well-known and an outgoing person. He enjoyed spending his time at the movies and cleaning his cars.

Humberto was known to affectionately joke and make light of any situation. He had the capacity to make one laugh even when they wanted to cry. Humberto was also extremely competitive and was one heck of a spades and domino player.

In his younger days, he loved to play hand ball which is how he met his wife, Deirdre Barrios with whom he had two children with. Humberto is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Iris Barrios. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: his wife, Deirdre Barrios; sons, Michael Banks, Humberto Barrios, Jr. AKA Chee-Chee, and Damian Barrios (Jasmine); daughters, Shirlena Banks and Mercedes Barrios; brothers, Victor Barrios and Eddie Barrios; six grandsons, three granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.
