Iola Lea Smith, 94, of Blue Springs passed away Saturday, May 11. 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. She was born April 1, 1925 in Berryville, AR, the daughter of William and Eliza Bradshaw.

On February 1, 1947 she married the love of her life Harold Clinton Smith, who preceded her in death in 1997. Iola worked as a housewife raising her kids and babysitting others. She was a kind and caring nurturer, always pleasant and cheerful.

Iola enjoyed doing crosswords and other word puzzles as well as reading her Bible. She tended to her flowers and garden as well as canned produce she grew. Iola was a a member of New Life Church in Oak Grove”.

Bogie” as some called her, had a sweet personality that made her a great mother, grandmother, and wife. Including her husband Harold, Iola is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Corey Smith; a son in law, Joe W. Johnson; three brothers and six sisters. She is survived by four children, Loretta J. Johnson of Naples, FL; Kenneth H. Smith and wife Debbie of Grain Valley, MO, Kendal R. Smith and wife Vickie of Kansas City, MO.

and Roger D. Smith of Blue Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Amanda, Kendra, Justin, Brooke, Chris, Jason; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 17, 2019 at Maple Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Blansit officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
