Irma Jean “Penny” Leffert, age 92, McKinney Place, Logansport, passed away at 6:40 am Saturday, December 22nd. She was born in Vermillion, South Dakota, July 3, 1926, to Nels H. Nelson, and Irene (Helgenson) Nelson. Her family later moved to California, where she graduated from Long Beach High School.

Penny met Charles B. Leffert in Long Beach and were married there on August 9th 1945. Penny was a professional secretary and helped put Charles through college. Penny was a lover of animals and would help any stray that would come to their house.

She had a great sense of humor and loved to visit. Penny was very kind and would help anyone in need without judging them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and two brothers Robert and Dick Nelson.

Surviving are her in-laws Janet Leffert and Nancy (Stan) Smith; nephews Jeff (Sue) Leffert and Greg (Marcy) Leffert. She will be missed by family. A private interment will be held at a later date in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
