Cobleskill- Irvin Pickett, 89, of Woodland Drive, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his residence. Born January 17, 1929 in Dorloo, he was the son of Ray and Rhoba (Chamberlain) Pickett. Irvin was a United States Army veteran, serving our country from 1951 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.

He was a member of the former VFW in Cobleskill, the AMVETS, and American Legion. He worked for many years as Superintendent of Grounds at SUNY Cobleskill. Irvin was a member of the Fraternal Organization of Eagles Aeries of Cobleskill #2695.

Along with his parents, Irvin was predeceased by his companion, Edna Willman; sister, Georgeanna Pickett McKean; brothers, Paul and Edward Pickett and niece, Gail Pickett Strobeck Survivors include his nieces and nephews: Theda Pickett, Joseph Pickett, Peggy Stiles, Daniel, Pickett, and Debbie (McKean) Bunn; grandniece, Cheryl Norton; grandnephew, Brian Pickett; and several other grandnieces and grandnephews. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held on Friday, June 29 from 6 to 8 PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Seward Valley Cemetery.

Rev David Houck of the Community Church of Faith in Richmondville will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
