OBITUARY Italia C. Searle September 9, 1924 – October 27, 2018 Italia “Tally” Cisco Searle, 94, of New Bern passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Tally, one of 11 children, was born in San Benito, TX on September 9, 1924 to Antonio and Guadelupe Cisco. In 1943 Tally met and married Robert Leo Searle in Corpus Christi, TX.

During the years that Robert served in the Navy, Tally raised six children in their loving home. Eventually they retired in Havelock, NC where she enjoyed gardening, playing Scrabble, and being outdoors. The family wishes to thank Tally’s special caregivers, Susan Banks and Vanesa Houck for their love, support, and dedication.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Leo Searle. Tally is survived by her children, Sandra Searle-Mitchell, Peggy Freeman, Michael Searle (Dori), Brenda Searle, Annette Katerberg, and Steven Searle (Susan); grandchildren, Italia Mullins, Dwight Burke, Melissa Wilson, David Burke, Jim Payne, Aaron Guthrie, Matthew Guthrie, Ian Katerberg, Ash Searle, and Paxton Searle; and numerous beloved great and great-great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Tally’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Abilena Plantation in New Bern.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tally’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
