Jack Lee Tervort November 15, 1920 ~ September 12, 2018 Jack Lee Tervort, 97, of Harrisville, passed away on September 12, 2018 of natural causes at Washington Terrace Care Center in South Ogden. Born November 15, 1920 in Payson, Utah, Jack was one of six children of Maurice Richard and Zella Vera Farr Tervort. He was raised in Payson, Utah.

He later graduated from BYU with a degree in Physics and Mathematics. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably during World War II in the areas of navigation and managing confidential publications. He was honorably discharged as a Quartermaster Second Class in December of 1945.

Jack married Ida Belle Reno and they later divorced. On September 17, 1964 he married his sweetheart, Beverly Jean MacNeil, in Draper, Utah. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together, raising their two blended families as one.

They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Utah LDS Temple. Jack worked as an Item Management Specialist at Hill Air Force Base and retired from civil service in 1980. Jack loved to be with his family.

He loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various ward and stake callings. He served with his wife as a missionary in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple.

His service lasted 24 years. Jack was known for his testimony of the restored Gospel. He loved the scriptures and was always willing to share his knowledge with others.

He read The Book of Mormon at least once a year for each year he was a member of the church. He will be remembered most for his kindness to everyone and his friendly smile. All who visited left with a hug.

Jack is survived by his dear wife, Beverly M. Tervort, Harrisville; children, David R. (Dawnette) Dickinson, North Ogden; Susan D. (Kenneth) Carver, Harrisville; William D. “Bill” (Terri) Tervort, Liberty, MO; Cindy D. Barnes, Fredonia, AZ; Shellee A. Gamble, Harrisville; Gary R. (Caren) Dickinson, Clearfield; and Paul J. (Karen) Tervort, Pleasant View; 34 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren with two on the way; and by one sister, Lois (Doug) Lee, Draper. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Bruce Lee Tervort; siblings, Maurice, Mary, Glen, and Charles; grandson, David Carver; granddaughter, Jennilynn Tervort; and by his son-in-law, Brent A. Barnes. The family wishes to thank the staff of Washington Terrace Care Center and of Encompass Hospice, as well as Dr. Seth Lewis, nurses and aids for their kind and professional care of Jack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
