Jack’s Obituary Jack Vance Houghton, age 87, of White Cloud passed away on Monday March 4, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Jack was born on May 6, 1931, in Altona, Michigan, to Orlo Henrey and Vanchie Pauline (VanHouten) Houghton and later married Berneice Janet Ryan on July 12, 2007, in White Cloud. Jack was a millwright most of his life but excelled in many other jobs throughout his life.

Jack proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Croton American Legion and life-member of the Howard City VFW Post #3306. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a true outdoorsman. Jack’s passion was horses.

He was a modern day cowboy and enjoyed racing horses. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Berniece; children, Gail (Ronald) Houghton Buford of Belding, Jeff (LouAnn) Houghton of Greenville, and Kevin Houghton of Fenwick; grandchildren, Erin (Randall) St. John, April Green, Darla Green, Hannah Green, Angela Houghton, Randy (Penny) Houghton, Tony (Mary) Houghton, Jayde (Sarah) Houghton, Josh (Shelly) Houghton, Vanesssa Wakley, Megan Evans-Heval, Baker Evans, and Clinton (Cassie) Houghton; 16 great-grandchildren; step-children, James Ferris, William Ferris, and Alison (Brian) Miles; step-grandchildren, Curt Miles, Todd Miles, and Dylan Miles; 1 step- great grandchild; sisters, Linda (Bob) Gladding of Fenwick and Kathryn (Richard) Jennings of Massachusetts; brother, Dallas (Sharon) Houghton of Fenwick; sisters-in-law, Theda Houghton, Marilyn Houghton, and Vivian Houghton; daughter-in-law, Vickie Houghton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his daughter, Teresa Green in 1984; son, Timothy Houghton in 2008; brothers, Garth Houghton, Lorain Houghton, Dennis Houghton, and Howard Houghton.
