The Memorial Service and Celebration of Jacob’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church at 4:30 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Jacob was a resident of Stephenville, Texas, for 20 of his 24 years.

He attended Stephenville ISD where his accomplishments were nearly as numerous as his friendships. Jacob was involved in band, debate, and Academic UIL. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Dick Smith Premier Scholarship to attend Tarleton State University.

At Tarleton State University, Jacob earned two degrees: Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. At Tarleton, Jacob made big changes. As a sophomore at TSU, Jacob served as Residential Leader, was a Student Instructor, Senator for the Residential Living and Learning Department, and served as President of the Sociology and Law Clubs.

He began researching. In his Junior year, Jacob presented his research in Las Vegas and Corpus Christi, served as Supreme Court Chief Justice of the Residential Living and Learning Department, was Residential Living and Learning Protocol Instructor, Student Instructor, and President of the Sociology Club. His research was published.

In his senior year, Jacob was a Student Instructor, Supreme Court Chief Justice of Residential Living and Learning Department, and President of the Sociology Department. Against all odds, Jacob won the battle with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma at age 9, participated in a medical trial, and laid groundwork for others to survive Neuroblastoma. In June of 2017, six months after graduating from college, Jacob was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a complication from the numerous chemotherapies he underwent as a child. Between June and November, Jacob’s health declined at a staggering rate, and he required a bilateral lung transplant.

God answered our prayers for those lungs, but over time, his lungs began to fail, and eventually he reached the stage of this battle where he accepted his reward in Heaven.
