James A. Schaub, 71, of Rome passed away at home on Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born on September 6, 1946 in Utica; the youngest son of four children to the late Charles and Doris Schaub. Jim attended Utica Free Academy and later served as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Following his Honorable discharge from the Army, he prided himself on continuing to help others. He retired from the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center after 25 years of service. James wanted to remembered for helping others and making people laugh.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Luke and Jennifer Schaub of PA and Ishmael Schaub of Utica; a daughter, Catherine Crossway of Verona Beach; two grandchildren; a brother, Don and Melissa Schaub of Utica; special friends, Brenda Robello and Chrissy O’Connor. James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie and Ronald Schaub; and a nephew, Don Schaub, Jr Mr. Schaub’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 5:00P.M. at the Delta United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00P.M. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delta United Methodist Church or the Yorkville VFW.
