OBITUARY James Aaron Haskins October 14, 1928 – September 24, 2018 Play Tribute Movie James Aaron Haskins, 89, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, September 24, 2018 only 34 days after his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean R. Haskins, passed on August 21, 2018. A Celebration of his Life will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Billy Abney officiating.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Children’s Scottish Rite Hospital, 1001 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia. James was born October 14, 1928 in Chester, Georgia to the late James Arthur Haskins and the late Maggie Lee Williams Haskins.
James, the eldest of five children, was instrumental in caring and providing for his mother and younger siblings. James Aaron was drafted into the U.S. Army on September 29, 1950 and served in the Korean War in Germany until September 10, 1952 in the ERC-INF Third Army Area. He was honorably discharged in August 1956.
James Aaron worked as a production management specialist at Robins Air Force Base and retired after 33 years of service. He was a long time member of Morningside Baptist Church where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. He had several part-time jobs during his retirement including Fordham’s Meats, Riverside Ford, and babysitting grandkids.
James Aaron spent the last decade devoting time caring for the love of his life, his wife, Jean. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. James is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Rick) Kiser of Dublin, Georgia; sons, Jim Allen Haskins of Macon, Wayne (Rinda) Haskins of Twiggs Co., Neal Haskins of Haddock, Jeff Haskins of Twiggs Co.,; grandchildren, Dustin Melvin, Hanna Kiser, Christina, Danielle, Nicole and April Haskins; great grandchildren, Aiden and Presley Melvin and Jeremy Fincher; brother, Julius “Dood” W. Haskins; sister, Ann Oxley (David) of Gray; brother, Stuart Haskins of Eatonton, brother, Larry (Minnie) Haskins of Gray.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law, LTC (RET) Virgil Bryant Roland of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. Visit www. maconmp.com to express condolences.
