Obituary for James Albert “Buddy” Meggs James Albert “Buddy” Meggs, 79, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Mr. Meggs was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Joe Sam Meggs and Margaret Purvis Meggs. He was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple, retired from E.I. DuPont and had also worked with A&P.

He loved working in his yard and tinkering in his shop. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Margaret Ann Lancaster. Surviving are his wife, Henrietta Griffin Meggs of Florence; daughters, Brenda (Butch) Driggers and Darlene (Jim) Walters; son, Timothy James Meggs; grandson, Griffin Walters, and brother, Thomas Meggs.

Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Temple Sower Project, 2308 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505 or to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2018 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow the service directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery and other times at the residence.
