James “Buddy” Suggs, a resident of Ashford, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence. He was 72. Funeral services for Mr. Suggs will be held at 1 PM Monday, January 7, 2019 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Judy Dyson officiating.

Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 3 PM until 5 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Suggs was born the son of a sharecropper May 9, 1946 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Homer and Marie Hand Suggs.

He was raised in Pansey and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Suggs was a Truck Driver for over 30 years and was a Christian family man that enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Suggs is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carol Suggs; children, Audrey Green (Leo), Patricia Brady (Jeff), Richard Suggs (Holly), Jimmie Carl, Barbara Blevins (Roger), Robert Suggs and Ben Suggs; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
