OBITUARY James C Bridges September 28, 1936 – August 2, 2018 James Charles “Jake” Bridges, 81, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 6, 2018 in the pavilion at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.

Jake was born September 28, 1936 in Seymour, Texas. He met the love of his life, Lucy Mossa, while serving in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Nautilus in 1959 and they were married on October 22, 1960 in Bristol, Connecticut. They then moved to Iowa Park and started their life together.

Jake is preceded in death by his mother Celia Mae (Shook) Underwood and step father, James Ray Underwood; sister, Peggy Thompson; and brother, Richard Underwood. Surviving relatives include his wife of 58 years, Lucy Bridges; daughter, Tammie Bridges and husband, Jason Knecht; grandsons, Bradlee and Brady Brinkman; granddaughter, Caili Knecht and her daughter, Kyra Okoh; half brother, Bobby Bridges and half sister, Patricia; nephews, Troy and wife, Sondra Thompson, and Kevin Thompson; and many more loving family members. Memorials are suggested, in lieu of flowers, to be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
