AMMAN, James D. – of Chesaning, age 83, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born July 30, 1935 in Chesaning to the late August and Dolores (Tithof) Amman and was a Chesaning resident his entire life. He was a 1953 graduate of Our Lady High School.

Jim was united in marriage to Doris Wendling on October 27, 1956 and they had recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary. Mr. Amman was owner/operator of Amman’s Garage in Chesaning. He was a member of St. Peter Parish, Knights of Columbus, current President of the Chesaning Lions Club and a member for the last 46yrs, JC’s, was a Chesaning High School Sports Booster, served on the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce Candle Walk Committee, and member of National AACA, HET Home Chapter Car Club, Cars of the Past and a former member of the Saginaw AACA car club.

One of his favorite things to do was work with Glardons Auctions and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are: wife, Doris; children: Dennis Amman of Chesaning, Daniel (Kelly) Amman of Traverse City, Donna (Dennis) Kligar of Chesaning, Doreen Kukulis (companion Randy Schmitzer) of Flint, Dwayne Amman (companion Renee Kulhanek) of St. Charles, David Amman of Chesaning, and Martin (Kathy) Buckland of Edwardsburg; grandchildren: Mat, Sarah, Danielle, Melissa, David, Craig, Carissa, Crystal, Shane, Ryan and Chantel;14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jean (Ray) Schnell of Chesaning, Fred (Corale) Amman of Chesaning, Marge (Fred) Dery of Owosso; sisters-in-law, Elaine Amman of Chesaning and Kay Amman of Lennon; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: granddaughter Jessye Amman, grandson Scott Kulhanek, brothers Joe and Ken Amman, and a sister Dorothy Tkaczyk.

Fr. William Gruden will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Peter Parish in Chesaning with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Friday from 2-8 p.m. where a vigil service and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Leader Dogs for the Blind or to the family.
