James D. Roy 89 of Elco died Saturday October 20, 2018 at New Dawn Personal Care, N. Charleroi. Born on July 17, 1929 in Allenport, a son of Alson and Jean Bell Roy. James was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport where he worked as a machinist for over 40 years.

He was a Korean War veteran serving with the United States Navy. James was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church, the Roscoe American Legion Post #801 and the Monongahela Valley Masonic Lodge #461 California. On November 21, 1952 he married Mary Moxine Morgan Roy who died on April 13, 2018.

James is survived by a son David Roy of Stroll Acres, 2 daughters and son-in-law, Valerie (Paul) Morris of Carroll Twp. , and Linda Legarsky of Stroll Acres, a grandson James JR Legarsky, a nephew Larry Morgan, 3 nieces Connie Shaum, Janet (Wayne) Farquhar and Tammy Tippins and several other nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he is also preceded in death by a son-in-law George Tim Legarsky, a brother Alson Roy and sister Hazel Tippins.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 22, 2018 from 6-8pm and Tuesday October 23 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave. , Roscoe where funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 11:00am with Rev. Rick Bowser presiding.

Interment will follow at Howe Cemetery, Long Branch. Military Honors accorded by the Roscoe American Legion Post #801. Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday October 23 at 7:00pm.
