Obituary for James J. “Tippy” Kenealy Jr. James J. “Tippy” Kenealy Jr., 82, husband of the late Frances H. Randzio, lost his battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Meriden on January 10, 1936, he was the son of the late James J. and Mildred (Dandelski) Kenealy Sr He had resided in Meriden for all of his life and had attended Wilcox Technical School.

Tippy was employed by Pratt & Whitney, retiring after 30 years. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. He was an avid UCONN Huskies fan (men & women) and enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, gardening and sun worshipping He especially loved watching his granddaughters play field hockey.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan F. Kenealy and her wife, Michele Wierzgac of Tampa, FL; his two granddaughters, Jaimie Kenealy and her wife, Caitlin of Newington and Ashley Kenealy and Steven Oatway of East Hartford; his great-granddaughter, Landon Kenealy of Newington; his five grandpups, Kahlua, Kix, Franny-Lu, Nova and Buddha-Baby; his sister, Barbara Buonanni and her husband Nicholas of Meriden and a very dear friend, Robin Cullen, who was like a daughter to him. He is also survived by many extended family members. He was predeceased by his two sons, Michael and Steven, both of Meriden; his three brothers, Howard, Kenneth and George Kenealy, all of Meriden; and two sisters, Mabel and Mildred Kenealy of Meriden.

Burial with military honors will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
