James “Jim” A. Reed, 72, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave. , Milan.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm (Noon) until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

James was born on May 15, 1946 in Rock Island, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Crosby) Reed. He married Janice Felter on November 24, 1967 in Rock Island. Before moving to Arizona, Jim worked for Alcoa and John Deere and Co

He last worked as a detention officer for Maricopa County, AZ before retiring and moving back to Illinois. James enjoyed being out boating on the river, and going out fishing. James is survived by his wife, Janice Reed; children, Lisa (Eric) Tanner and James A. Reed Jr.; grandson, Nicholas Tanner; brothers, Roy (Helen) Reed, Roger (Brenda) Reed, Robert “Whitey” (Shirley) Reed, and David (Debbie) Reed; sisters, Margaret Massengarb, Bonnie (Verlen) Corbin, and Linda (Jack) Wood; and multiple nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Reed.
