Sylvia M. Baird, 86, of Aledo, formerly of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Aledo Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. A memorial visitation will be Saturday from 3 pm to 4 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Sylvia was born on November 28, 1932 in Rock Island, a daughter of Charles and Elsie (Hough) Baird. Sylvia worked as actuarial assistant at Royal Neighbors of America, Rock Island. She retired from Royal Neighbors in 1993.

She was a former member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed reading and shopping. Survivors include a brother, Charles H. “Howard” Baird, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Freddy and Brenda Howard and family, Joy, ILL.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allen Baird, James Baird; and a sister, Helen Matheis.
