James “Jim” Lachowitzer, age 60, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away at his home on Monday, May 28, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 1st, 2018, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 12 Noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

James “Jim” Allen Lachowitzer was born on February 23rd, 1958, along with his twin sister Jane to Joseph and Alice (Eidol) Lachowitzer in Detroit Lakes, MN. Jim Lived his entire life in the Detroit Lakes area. Jim married Jeannette Klovstad on October 25th, 1986 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN.

Together they had a son Jerad in 1989. After 17 years of marriage the couple divorced. Jim wanted to achieve his GED and attended an alternative school where he graduated in 1977.

After gaining his GED Jim went to the Detroit Lakes Technical College and graduated with a degree in Mechanics. Jim did a few jobs throughout his life, but mainly was self-employed. He enjoyed helping his dad with Joe’s Towing in his earlier years.

Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors and always loved to help others. He would mow lawns, fix clocks and was very involved with Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He will be remembered for riding his red lawn mower around town and for all of his help in the Detroit Lakes community and at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Jim is survived by his son Jerad; Step-Son Jarvis Klovstad; Brother Larry and Twin sister Jane. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Alice.
