James “Jimmy” Earl Edmondson, of Lawrenceville, went to be with the Lord the morning of Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Born Oct. 3, 1938, in Atlanta, to Ruth Brewer Edmondson and Richard Floyd Edmondson, he was the youngest of four children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Farr Edmondson, and by a sister, Dorothy “Dot” Garner of Dawsonville, GA. He is survived by his son, James Kenneth “Kenny” Edmondson; his brother, Harry (Evelyn) Edmondson of Hampton, GaA; his sister, Patricia Pybus, of Zephyrhills, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Atlanta and served in the U.S. Army.

He was a passionate student of World War II’s war in the Pacific, with a particular interest in aircraft. An avid lover of classic automobiles, he frequently visited car shows and was especially drawn to “hot rods”. He was the proud owner of a 1923 Altered “T” Roadster Pickup that he restored with the help of his son, Kenny.

Jimmy specialized in building-supply hardware in a long career that culminated in retirement from James L. Cox & Associates in Chamblee, GA. He was a member of Lilburn First Baptist Church for 36 years and enjoyed spending weekend afternoons with friends playing golf. During retirement, he loved traveling with family and exploring international and domestic locales.

A visitation will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. He will be interred following a graveside service at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Sandra, and extended family.
