Mr. James Melton Smith age 70 of Cookeville, TN passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home. Eddie White will officiate and interment to follow in the Hamilton Addition of Fitzgerald Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.and on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 8 a.m. until the service time at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home. James is survived by his wife Juliene Smith of Cookeville, TN 1 son, Michael Garrity and wife Elisa of Rickman, TN; 2 daughters Teresa Cunningham of Cookeville, TN and Wanda Smith of Livingston, TN; 1 step-son Dewayne Smith and wife Renee of Plainfield, IN; 1 step-daughter Amy Crawford and husband Jeremy of Indianapolis, IN 4 brothers, Wayne Smith and wife Reba of Moss, Eddie Smith and wife Darlene, Phillip Smith and wife Diane, Bobby Smith and wife Judy all of Celina, TN; 7 grandchildren, Tiffany Garrity, Jacob Cunningham, Seth Garrity, Tytus Garrity, Myranda, Breanna, and Ayva Smith; 2 great grandchildren Taryn Johnson, and Lillien Rose Cunningham; special friend Teresa Hackett; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends who also mourn his passing.
