Obituary for James Morell Baker James M. Baker was a born to Francis Morell and Ruth Elizabeth Canada Baker January 27, 1935 in Detroit MI. He lived a large portion of his youth in Ohio and Oak Ridge TN. He studied at General Motors Institute.
He was a retiree of Martin Marietta, now known as Lockheed Martin, Orlando Florida. Jim traveled country and world-wide as a field service engineer for Martin Marietta. He was a Technical class instructor for various missile systems, Redstone, Jupiter, and Pershing Missiles as well as the infared on the F4, in Iran, Japan, and Israel.
He lived a full and active life and enjoyed all aspects of his life with no complaints. Jim and his wife settled in Sparta in 2001. He was a born again Christian, and was active for years with the Gideon Organization as a speaker in many of the churches where he lived, here in Tennessee, Florida, and North Carolina.
He was a member of Hampton Crossroads Baptist Church. Jim has impacted lives of all those around him. He was loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Ruby, and a blended family, his two children Mike Baker and wife Teri of Leesburg, Florida, daughter Judy Baker Barnes and husband Jeff of Concord NC, three step children Tony May of Sparta, Timothy May and wife Robin of Sparta, Joseph Howard and wife Lori, of Sparta, Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister Sue Ann Baker of The Villages, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Hampton Crossroads Baptist Church with Maston Jackson officiating.
A family and friends gathering will begin at 12pm prior to the public memorial service at 1pm.
