James Paul Leathers, Sr. was born on February 4, 1933, in Salona, Pennsylvania. He transitioned to eternity on April 21, 2018, in Richardson, Texas, at age 85. James graduated from Mill Hall High School in 1951.

He joined the Marine Corps. in July of 1951 and served his country for 22 years. During his Marine career, James served in the Korean War.

He also served in the Vietnam War twice. In July of 1974, James honorably retired. He later worked at National Steel Product Company until his second retirement.

On September 4, 1954, James married the love of his life, Doris. To their union, three beautiful children were born. The two remained united for 60 years until Doris’s transition.

James was predeceased by his father, Walter Leathers, Sr.; mother, Ruth Leathers; sister, Anna Shadle; brothers, Charles Leathers, Walter Leathers, Jr., and Robert Leathers; and wife, Doris Leathers. Those left to cherish precious memories include his sons, Walter Lee Leathers (Pauline) and James P. Leathers, Jr.; daughter, Debra A. Kouser; grandchildren: Cindy, Chrissy, Josh, and Becca; great-grandchildren: Nate, Noelle, Gabe, and Lucas; brother, Melvin Leathers; sisters, Helen Chapman and Betty Swope; and a host of other relatives and friends.
