James’ Obituary James Pearson Ballard (December 16, 1923-March 29, 2019) Prescott Arkansas- Graveside Funeral services will be held at 2pm, on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Bluff City Cemetery in Bluff City Arkansas, for James Pearson Ballard, 95, who passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will be at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Prescott, Arkansas from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Saturday, March 30. A resident of Mesquite, TX, former resident of New Iberia, LA and Prescott, AR, James Pearson Ballard was born on December 16, 1923 to the late Myron J and Mary E Ballard.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be deeply missed. James joined the navy in July of 1942 and transferred to the Marine Corps in November 1943, where he climbed his way to the rank of Captain.

He was awarded the 5 oak leaf cluster air medal, the distinguished flying cross for meritorious service as a pilot. James married Leona Mae Cooper on August 29, 1948, whom he had 3 children with – Nan Tomlin, Deborah “Debbie” Courville, and Jonathan “Pat” Ballard. He had 2 sons from a previous marriage – Jimmy Lewis Ballard and Richard Ballard.

James is survived by his daughter, Nan Tomlin; sons Jimmy Lewis and Richard Ballard; Grandchildren Amy Shockley (Brad), Jimmy Courville, Melissa Allen (Jason), Brad Courville (Mindi), and Samantha Ballard; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron J and Mary E Ballard; wife, Leona Mae Cooper; daughter Deborah “Debbie” Courville; and son Jonathan “Pat” Ballard. Pallbearers will be Roy Courville, Jimmy Courville, Brad Courville, Brad Shockley, Jason Allen, and Justin Shockley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lewis Ballard and Richard Ballard.
